Founding Partner & Managing Director


Ike W. Thrash was born in Meridian, Mississippi on March 17, 1953. He and the former Dawn Marie Lacour have been married since July 13, 1974, and have four children: Jennifer, Kelly, Walker, and Joseph. Ike played baseball and attended Tulane University, and later graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi.


From 1975 to 1986, he worked as an underwriter for J.H. Harris Mortgage Company in New Orleans, as a site selector and general contractor for Studebakers Restaurants, and as a residential builder and developer of apartments and single-family homes.


Since 1986, Ike W. Thrash has been involved in the acquisition, development, renovation, and disposition of multifamily and other income-producing properties. This has included over 18,000 apartment communities as well as multiple successful condominium and hotel projects with total values exceeding one billion dollars. He has developed over 3,000 rental units and over 2,000,000 square feet of retail commercial. 

Ike and his wife Dawn also operate a very successful stable of thoroughbred racehorses. They currently reside in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.


Director of Construction Management


After joining Thrash Development in early 2009, Kevin has completed several projects as Director of Construction including the completion of a Sheraton 4 Points Hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, The Admiral (Curio by Hilton), The Campbell House (Curio by Hilton), The Chancellor Hotel and The Artesian Residences.  He is currently leading the construction efforts for all Origin Hotel developments.


Kevin was born January 4, 1977, in Laurel, Mississippi. From 1995 through 1996 he attended The University of Arkansas at Monticello. From 1997 through 2000 he attended The University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied Management Information Systems. From 2000 through 2006, he served as co-owner of T & S Inc., a residential and commercial metal construction company. While there, he designed, budgeted and constructed over 400 steel and concrete structures which include churches, offices, retail stores, and municipal facilities. He was also responsible for designing and constructing company-specific projects for Covington County, Lamar County Schools, Dixie Pipeline, Georgia Pacific, Southern Hens and Boswell Medical Center. From 2006 through early 2009, Kevin worked primarily as a contractor and consultant; working closely with companies such as Sanderson Farms Inc., where he completed several facility upgrade projects per year.

VP of Brand & Marketing


Tracy is a hospitality professional with over 20 years experience in the retail, restaurant and hotel industries. After receiving her BA in business, Tracy attended culinary school and focused her career on brand building through culinary innovation.


Tracy spent 3 years with URBN developing and operating food service concepts across their portfolio of brands including Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Anthropologie. 

 Tracy then joined the team at Fox Restaurant Concepts as Director of Marketing responsible for the growth and development of 2 brands that were positioning for sale. During her tenure, both brands underwent a full rebranding, concept update, and doubled location count and revenue.


Tracy joined the Thrash Group in Feb 2019 with a focus on the growth of the Origin brand. Her role also extends into the independent properties, helping to define brand positioning.

Additionally, Tracy leads the conceptual and branding direction for  restaurants across all hotel locations.


Creative Director

Ellen Tichenor, a registered interior design professional with a decade plus of experience. Previously Ellen worked at Omni Hotels and Resorts.  She has designed and managed many Omni properties not to mention touching ground at 30+ properties - half of their portfolio. She has gained exceptional experience through working on both the design side and owner side of the business. 


Her experience at a top design firm in Dallas, afforded her the outstanding design foundation and client relationships that led to her current role at The Thrash Group. Ellen was the lead designer on many Thrash Group Properties including: The Campbell House, The Admiral and The Artesian. She is tasked designing in-house for the brand, as well as managing outside design firms to stay within budget, schedule and design standards. 


Ellen resides in Dallas, Texas.  She enjoys traveling to new destinations (taking her anywhere in the world), along with exploring local hot spots, being outdoors with her Australian shepherd, Tilly, and spending quality time with friends and family. 


Executive Coordinator

Executive Coordinator to The Thrash Group since 2015, Melanie brings over 10 years of multifamily management experience and currently oversees corporate administrative functions. Originally from Hattiesburg, MS, Melanie started her career in 2008 leasing for a local property managed by a subsidiary of The Thrash Group. Melanie was promoted to property manager shortly after in 2009 and held the position until 2011 when she accepted a Business Management position with Merion Realty Partners in Mobile, AL. In 2013, Melanie relocated back to her hometown of Hattiesburg, MS, taking a management position with Heritage Properties. Since joining The Thrash Group team in 2015, Melanie has assisted with the acquisition and management of numerous properties in their portfolio.


Partner - Focus on Development & Construction


As a developer, Walker has a strong background in complex financing structures including tax credits, bonds, grants, and multi-level partnerships. He has also completed many historic projects involving repurposing and preservation. His primary areas of focus involve development, tax credit structures, and project construction.


Walker received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Millsaps College in 2002.  Walker has worked primarily as a developer and contractor throughout the southeastern United States. He has constructed or renovated large-scale developments in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee and Texas. These commercial developments include hotels, retail/office, apartments, townhomes, condominiums and medical facilities.


Director of Company Financials


Mike is intimately involved in the day-to-day management and budgeting of corporate financials. His duties include company-wide budgets, analyzing construction cash flows and working directly with company CPA to prepare and review financial data.


Mike was born December 12, 1949, in Charleston, WV and received his Bachelor degree majoring in Business in 1971 from the University of Charleston. From 1981 through 1990 he worked as Manager of Retail Operations and Director of Retail Development for a Division of Malone & Hyde, a four billion dollar company. As Director of Retail Development, he negotiated with developers to develop anchor retail grocery tenants, as well as with banks for monies needed for new projects. Mike was in charge of three retail store engineers and was involved in design and construction of retail centers throughout the southeast. He was later owner of five grocery stores in Central KY. His responsibilities included human resource activity for 160 employees, proformas, financing, and retail operations. From 1999 through 2008 Mike served as a Sales and Management coordinator for Super Valu Southeast (a Fortune 500 company), where he

worked with retailers in 14 states to design and market their stores for more sales and profits.



Director of Asset Management


Tracey began her career in the multifamily real estate business in 1988 as a leasing consultant and on-site manager where she learned the day to day operations of property management. She became a Regional Manager in 1998. She joined Dawn Properties in 2001 after working as a Regional Manager for AIMCO. As the Director of Asset Management, Tracey directs all operations in multifamily projects nationwide. She has successfully overseen the new construction, renovation, lease-up, daily operations, acquisition and disposition of over 10,000 units. She is active in the Gulf Coast Apartment Association and resides in Ocean Springs, MS with her husband and two children.

Project Manager

Stephen is a Mississippi native. After graduating high school he joined the Marine Corp and spent 13 weeks on Parris Island. After various training schools, the final stop was the 4th Amphibian Assault Battalion, located in Gulfport, MS, where Stephen served as an AAV mechanic.

Stephen is a Marine Corp veteran, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and 2008. While serving in the USMC, Stephen was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Marine Corp Achievement Medal as well as the Military Outstanding volunteer service medal.

Upon an honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, he attended USM and received his degree in Construction Engineering. Stephen has worked as a field superintendent, estimator, field engineer and a project manager. Stephen has also worked as a service and production manager for a welding/manufacturing company that produces oil and gas production equipment.


Racing Manager


Dawn L. Thrash was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the ninth of nine children to Lurry and Estelle Lacour. She met Ike while he was attending Tulane and the couple was married in 1974.  They have four children: Jennifer, Kelly, Walker and Joseph and eleven grandchildren.

Dawn attended both Louisiana State University and the University of Southern Mississippi.  She has always had a passion for horses and turned that passion into a business. Along with Ike, they have been involved in the thoroughbred racing industry for the past 31 years.


Partner - Focus on Acquisitions & Finance

Joseph Thrash joined the company in May 2005 after graduating with honors from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.

Since working for the company, he has been directly involved in the acquisition and development of over $600 million in commercial properties including hotels, apartments, and condominiums. His primary areas of focus involve project underwriting, project finance, and project selection. This focus has allowed him to become extremely well versed in complex financing and tax credit structures while making him an acquisition and valuation specialist for the company.

Joseph received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Millsaps College and is a member of both Beta Gamma Sigma and Omicron Delta Epsilon honor societies.


Director of Construction Logistics


Matthew joined The Thrash Group in 2014 after working with the company on residential developments since 2010.  He

is involved in various logistical and ​financial duties on a day-to-day basis, including scheduling, budgeting, & forecasting. 

He is also involved in the site selection

and operations data analysis for

hotel developments.


Matthew is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he studied Marketing from 1999-2004. 


Director of Architecture for Origin Hotel

Sarah Newton (Sarah Newton Architect PLLC) partnered with Thrash Development in 2017 to assist in design and construction management of the new Origin Hotel brand, bringing 16 years of architectural experience to the team.


Sarah received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002.  Upon graduation, she settled in Hattiesburg where she became a licensed architect and active member of the community.  Her architectural experience comprises a wide range of project types including historic preservation, religious assembly, institutional, mixed-use, retail, multi-family housing, and residential.  She has worked extensively with the Mississippi Department on Archives and History on both public grant and historic tax credit projects and has experience with New Market Tax

Credit projects.



Project Manager

Andre joined the Thrash group in August 2018 after working for 15 years in the construction management industry. 

He graduated from the University of Toronto with his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering in 2002 followed by his MBA in 2006 and PMP in 2014. 

In 2002 Andre started working at a large commercial construction company in the US as a Field Engineer before being promoted to a Project Engineer and Cost  Engineer. His main projects included airports, hospitals, and recreation centers. In 2011 Andre relocated to Australia where he worked as a Senior Project Controller for heavy industrial projects in the mining sector. Upon completion, he  moved to Indonesia to work as a project manager for a twin tower high rise luxury condo in Jakarta. 

Andre has significant knowledge in project scheduling, cost control/budgeting as well as preconstruction management.
